Thane: A 59-year-old man was brutally killed over a minor dispute by a youth in Thane, police said on Saturday.

According to API Avinash Patil of Kalyan taluka police station the incident took place last month on November 7 after accused Ketan Pawar fatally stabbed victim Chandrakant Bhoir in Ratya village when he was on his way home. The duo had an altercation on November 3 after the accused allegedly forced the victim to reveal as to whom he had voted for in the recent gram panchayat elections. When Bhoir refused to tell his choice, the quarrel thickened and he reported the matter to Pawar's family.

Annoyed, Pawar attacked Bhoir to avenge the insult, following which police registered a case of accidental death then.

However, after receipt of postmortem reports, a case of murder was registered last night, police said today. A manhunt has been launched for the accused, who is at large, police said.
