A 27-year-old man from Dahanu in the district was arrested for allegedly ransacking a government hospital and manhandling a doctor, police said

Palghar: A 27-year-old man from Dahanu in the district was arrested for allegedly ransacking a government hospital and manhandling a doctor, police said.


The incident took place yesterday when one Imran Shaikh visited the rural district hospital in Kasa area of Dahanu and started hurling abuses on a doctor, Pasad Tarse and also allegedly manhandled him, Deputy SP, Jawhar division, Pradeep Jadhav said.


According to complaint lodged by Tarse, Shaikh called names on the basis of his caste and also beat him up. The victim alleged Shaikh also damaged medical equipments at the hospital.


A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of IPC, SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Maharashtra Medical Person and Medicare service Act.
