29-year-old kills mother-in-law as she didn't allow him to meet his 6-month-old child, also attacks brother-in-law
For a 29-year-old father, the desire to meet his six-month-old son landed him in prison as he allegedly killed his mother-in-law and assaulted his brother-in-law in a scuffle on Thursday morning. The accused, Selvakumar Subbaya Nadar, attacked his mother-in-law Praamni Natrajan Nadar (52) and brother-in-law Deeprajan Natrajan Nadar (19) with a sharp weapon, killing her on the spot at Kaalu Kate chawl in Dapoli area of Pune. The accused was arrested from Dharavi in Mumbai, six hours after the incident.u00a0

Crime Branch officials in Pune alerted Crime Branch (Unit IX) in Dharavi, where Nadar landed after committing the crime. As his mobile was switched off the officials alerted informers and arrested him. Sanjay Satardekar, senior police inspector from Crime Branch (Unit IX) said, “We started tracking his phone but found that it was switched off. Soon we alerted our informer about the accused and managed to catch him when he came to Dharavi, where he lived.”u00a0

According to the officials, Selvakumar Nadar alias Sitre married a Dharavi-based girl, Nandini Nadar one-and-a-half years ago. Everything seemed fine in the beginning but soon after Nadar started physically abusing his wife over minor issues. Fed up of his behaviour, Nandini moved to her mother’s house in Pune. u00a0Around the same time she gave birth to a child, who is now six months old.u00a0

When Nadar learnt of the news, he wanted to meet his infant son but his wife and mother-in-law would not allow him.u00a0While confessing to his crime, Nadar said he was driven to insanity as he desperately wanted to see his son. An idli seller from Dharavi, Nadar shut his shop and moved to Pune, where his wife lived with their child. Every time he tried to meet his son Nadar faced opposition from his mother-in-law and wife. On the day of the incident, his mother-in-law Praamni asked her son Deeprajan to come to Pune from Mumbai to stop Nadar from meeting her grandson. Nadar was handed over to the Pune Police for further investigations. He was booked under sections 302 and 307 of the IPC.
