Since the accused had washed away the blood stains, the children did not know their mom had been murdered
Investigation in the murder case of Chhaya Singh alias Gudiya who was killed by her accused husband Shashi Rajan Singh has revealed that their children, who helped the father dispose the body, were unaware that their father had murdered their mother.

The police said when their 12 year-old daughter went to school in the morning, the accused husband put their six year-old son to bed. After the son fell asleep. Singh allegedly killed his wife. The motive and intention of the murder is still being investigated.
Destroying all evidence at their house, the accused washed away blood stains and by the time the daughter returned and the son woke up, Singh put his wife’s body in the bag.
A senior level officer, on condition of anonymity, said, “The children were unaware that their father had killed their mother. Also, he may have convinced or manipulated or even threatened both the kids so they would be seen carrying the bag in the CCTV footage.”
The officer added, “Currently, both children are at their relative’s place in Bihar. In a few days, the police will bring them to Mumbai to take their statements. They may also be taken as witnesses, if they are proved innocent.”
DCP Zone 9 Satyanarayan Chaudhary said, “Singh was brought to Mumbai on Thursday evening. He was produced in the Bandra court on Friday and remanded to police custody till December 20.” Singh has been booked by the Santacruz police station under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the IPC.
Case background
On December 8, an unknown body was found at Juhu Koliwada. On Tuesday MiD DAY had reported that the body was identified as Chhaya Singh alias Gudiya who was murdered by her husband Shashi Rajan Singh. Singh had murdered his wife on the morning of December 7.
