One incident after another is giving Kalachowkie residents sleepless nights.

On Tuesday, two bikers fatally stabbed 39-year-old Beena Dedhia and injured her husband Jitin during their morning walk on Sai Baba Road in Parel.

Yesterday at 4.30 pm, metres way from where Dedhia was killed, two bikers allegedly hit Dinesh Mamtora (42), a ticketing agent who was riding home to Parel village.

Surprisingly, two cops were on patrol duty, one of them even had a carbine gun, but the bikers escaped.

While eyewitnesses claim the bikers meant to rob a couple on the road and hit Mamtora as he came in their way, cops claim he was hit because he collided with their bikes.

The bikers allegedly drove into the lane from the opposite direction, which was a no entry, and hit Mamtora on his head and stomach. The two policemen on patrol duty rushed him to KEM Hospital.

"I was at home when I got the news and I rushed to the hospital," said Jigna, Dinesh's wife.

"His CAT scan and other tests are normal, but we were worried, as he was hit on his stomach." The Mamtoras have filed a case of assault against the unknown assailants.

Residents in the area are petrified. "This isn't the firstu00a0 such incident in the area, but complaining makes no difference," they said.

Inspector Prakash Kirdatt from Kalachowkie police station, said, "This incident is not connected to the Dedhia murder case. We've increased patrolling in the area to control crime rate," said Kirdatt.

Meanwhile, the police have zeroed in on four suspects, Ramchandra Sonane, Ronaldu00a0 Pereira, Chandrakant Patil and Prashant Vaidya, involved in Dedhia's murder and have asked all 86 police stations in the city to look out for them.
