Hundreds of news reports have waxed on about how Indrani Mukerjea shared an uneasy relationship with her daughter, Sheena Bora, whom she now stands accused of murdering. Many will find it hard to believe then, that at one point, Indrani had trusted Sheena enough to name her as one of the executors of her will.

mid-day has a copy of the will made by Indrani on September 17, 2004, in which she left her financial assets to her second daughter Vidhie (from her ex-husband and co-accused Sanjeev Khanna). It’s no surprise that she named her husband Peter as Vidhie’s guardian; not only did she trust him as her husband, Peter had also adopted Vidhie. But the will had a further provision: in case both Indrani and Peter died, Indrani’s mother Durga Ranee Bora and Sheena, would become the executors of the will and the guardians of Vidhie. It is, however, important to note that the will names Sheena as Indrani’s ‘sister’, and not her daughter, as was established once the murder came to light this year.
On January 7, 2011, Peter and Indrani had already drawn up a gift deed in which they named her as the beneficiary of their Worli home.

The property measures 1,085 sq feet (carpet area), with an open car park and a garage, and its value was estimated at R3.2 crore. Apart from this, Indrani’s will also names Vidhie as the heir to the rights to her assets.
The will details how on February 1, 2003, Indrani entered a 99-year lease for the possession of a space admeasuring 2,756.6 sq feet (built up area) within High Street Phoenix compound in Lower Parel, popularly known as Phoenix mills. In the will, Indrani named Vidhie as the sole heir to all the rights, title and interests in the premises.

Sources from M/s High Street Phoenix confirmed to mid-day that they had indeed entered a 99-year lease with M/s INX Media, which belongs to Indrani.
The will gave limited powers to Vidhie’s guardians, but the fact remains, Indrani still seemed to trust Sheena enough with this responsibility. So how did Sheena go from being a trusted family member to Indrani hating her enough to want to eliminate her? This is what the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) will have to explain as it seeks to prove Indrani’s motive in the murder.
