Amidst the fury of the monsoon, Indian Coast Guard took up the challenge of a life-saving mission to rescue 10 lives.

At around 4.30pm on Saturday, Indian coast guard air station in Daman received a telephonic information from Valsad administration in Gujarat regarding 10 personnel trapped in Daman Ganga river on the national highway (NH 8), between Dadra and village Naroli due to rise of water.

The location was around 18km from coast guard air station at Daman, about 175 kms north of Mumbai. After receiving the information, the air station was promptly activated and a Chetak helicopter expeditiously sent within 15 minutes.

Braving the strong wind conditions and inclement weather, the pilots reached the site and identified the stranded people. The helicopter crew quickly identified a safe location to shift the stranded crew. All the men were winched up safely under assistance of the diver and shifted to safe location by 5.30pm.
