HIT WICKET! Twitterati ridicule Chetan Chauhan being made NIFT head

Meet Chetan Chauhan -- the new chairman of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). He was Sunil Gavaskar's opening partner in the 1970s and early 80s and is a two-time BJP MP. The 68-year-old, who respresented India in 40 Tests and has over 11,000 first-class runs, is the vice-president of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) and a senior BCCI official. He operates a cricket academy in Delhi and owns a newsprint business. He has some banking experience too.

Well, the NIFT Act 2006 says that the chairperson of the board is expected to be "an eminent academician, scientist or technologist or professional," and that the President would nominate that person.

Chauhan has the distinction of having scored the most Test runs by an Indian cricketer without scoring a Test hundred. Well, looks like the Twitterati have hit the hundred for him.
