Both of us come home late at night, so I was aware that I might have to face criminals one day on my way back. But, I never anticipated that they would target my home.”
Late return
In the wee hours every Saturday, the couple prepares for a pooja that they perform at the restaurant the next morning, and so, return home exceptionally late. Dinesh said, “After cleaning the hotel and finishing the work for the pooja, we left for home at around 3 am.
When we reached, we found that the lock of the door had been broken. I opened the door and found two robbers looting my house. I could not bear to watch someone stealing my valuables in front of very eyes.” Dinesh added, “I immediately caught hold of one of the robbers, while the other slipped away with some of my valuables.
The robber that I caught started hitting me with a metallic object. I started bleeding profusely. But I held on. My wife and I started shouting to alert our neighbours.” Yogita then joined the scuffle to help Dinesh, and was also assaulted by the robber. Alerted by their cries, neighbours rushed into their home and apprehended the criminal.
Dinesh said, “My wife Yogita did a very brave job of grabbing the accused. It was she who managed to nab the robber.” A police officer from Kandivli police station said, “The search for other accused is on. A case has been registered under Section 394 of the Indian Penal Code.”
