It took the police all of four days to reunite a missing 72-year-old with her family on Sunday.
On November 9, patrolling staff found Rakhi Mukherjee looking lost and confused at Sakinaka junction. When they approached her, Mukherjee was blank. They then brought her to the police station where she finally told them her name was Pratima Adhikari. The police then sent out messages to all police stations asking if a missing person complaint had been registered in this name. They then sent Mukherjee to an ashram in Malad.
When nothing turned up on the missing complaint, the Sakinaka police sent out her picture to all old age homes, police stations and to the crime branch. They finally got a call from Ghatkopar police station on Sunday saying the photo was that of Rakhi Mukherjee. Thecops called the woman’s family, who came to Sakinaka police station and told the cops that Mukherjee was the woman’s name after marriage. They had no idea how she reached Sakinaka from Ghatkopar "After due verification, we sent the woman home with her family. She lives at Ghatkopar with her two sons," said A Dharmadhikari, senior inspector at Sakinaka police station.
