Four teenage boys swept away during beach picnic at Arnala

A group of seven boys from Nalasopara decided to bunk college and head out to Rajodi beach in Arnala for a picnic. Little did they know that it would be their last trip together

A group of seven boys from Nalasopara decided to bunk college and head out to Rajodi beach in Arnala for a picnic. Little did they know that it would be their last trip together. Four of the boys drowned, while locals managed to save three.

According to police, the missing boys have been identified as Sunny Palav (15), Sujit Vishwakarma (16), Rohan Jadhav (17) and Chetan Kalap (19). The boys who were saved are Sachin Ravi Malekar (16), Naman Vinod Mishra (15), and Ankit Uttam Sharma (15).



Rescued

Police said that they reached Rajodi Beach at 1:00 pm. According to witnesses, at around 2 pm, while the boys were playing in the water (holding each other’s hands in a circle), suddenly a huge wave pulled them in. “Fire Brigade, local divers and cops have initiated the search operation with the help of boats, for the others,” said PRO Ranjeet Shirsaath of Palghar district.
