Just by putting tattoo messages all over the back and giving oneself the nickname Chulbul Pandey doesn’t make one a hero, as this 42-year-old found out after landing behind bars for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of giving her a job.
The Mulund police have arrested Gurusiddhappa Waghmare, who used to pose as an officer from the social service branch or crime branch and extort money from the owners of beauty parlours and massage parlours, threatening them with raids if they didn’t pay up.
Officers said the tattoos on his back are messages listing life threat to him from certain bar owners and police stations, including Thane (rural) police.
Luring the victim
Waghmare came in contact with the 27-year-old victim when he visited a massage parlour in Navi Mumbai in August. After availing the service, he took her contact details and got in touch with her a few days later. She then told him that she had left that parlour and was searching for a job. Waghmare assured her of one and took her to a massage parlour in Mulund. To show her gratitude, she befriended him.

After a few days, Waghmare visited that parlour for a massage from her, during which he allegedly forced himself on her and raped her. He threatened her of dire consequences if she told anyone about it. He raped her three more times after that. Fed up with the exploitation, the victim left the Mulund parlour.
Busted!
When Waghmare kept on calling her even after she quit the job, the victim made inquiries about him and found out that he was not a police officer but an extortionist. On Monday, she went to Mulund police station and lodged a complaint against him.
