A senior official from MSRDC, which is repairing the damaged bridge, told mid-day that it’s not possible to complete work within the remaining 11 days

Officials from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation have revealed to mid-day that they will be unable to finish work on the bridge by May 31, the official deadline.
The bridge was put under repairs on May 4 after nine of its slabs on the southbound stretch were found to be cracked by a team of experts from IIT-Bombay.
The traffic cops had stipulated that work should be concluded by May 31, keeping one lane of the flyover open for light vehicles.
This paper had reported that if MSRDC failed to meet the timelines, the Traffic cops would take legal action against them. They had also gotten an undertaking signed from MSRDC.

Officials maintained on record that they would complete work in time. MSRDC Engineer B N Ohol said, “We have already completed concretisation work of the two lanes of the southbound stretch of the Dindoshi flyover.
Work on the remaining lane would be completed from below - we will strengthen it externally from under the bridge, for which the lane will have to be closed. We are confident we will complete the work in time.”
However, a senior official confided to this reporter, “We were aware we wouldn’t be able to complete repair work in a month’s time. Hence, we got the deadline extended in the undertaking by 15 days. But if it rains in the first week of June, there will be a problem.”
Ohol added that a team of experts would check the structure today, and would decide whether it was suitable to open the two lanes for traffic from today evening.
However, with heavy vehicles still banned from using the flyover, traffic at the beginning and under the flyover continues to be heavy. Heavy vehicles use the bridge extensively. Authorities explained that blacktopping of the road had been finished.
