Mumbai television presenter, Moeen Latif, Bhendi Bazaar resident, has gone missing from a remote area in Arunachal Pradesh, since December 21. Moeen was shooting a travel documentary with XP Travel Channel, comprising a crew of five persons, which included Moeen. The team was on assignment, shooting a travel documentary on North East India.

In the absence of correct information, recent press reports mixed up Moeen Latif with television actor Mohsin Khan. Mohsin was shocked to read that he was supposed to have ‘died’ in a river in Assam. “I am very much alive” he said in press reports.

Moeen, reports say, may have drowned in the Jia Bharali river in Sonitpur district in Assam. There have been several futile search and rescue operations for Moeen, since the past five days.

The documentary director, Kamakhya Singh said when contacted on phone from the North East, “We have been shooting a documentary on travel in the North East. We were idling at a spot. I saw that Moeen had gone swimming in a river. I could see him for a few seconds, and then, suddenly, he disappeared. None of the other crew joined Moeen for the swim, we do not know how to swim.”

Mustafa Latif, Moeen’s brother speaking from the North Eastern belt, refuted the charge completely, saying, “That is rubbish. My brother was on a work assignment with a travel channel, and he had not gone swimming, he would not do so in these temperatures. That is all I would like to say at this moment. My family, community and I would still like to believe that my brother is alive.”
