The rail fracture occurred towards Matunga station on the fast line due to which trains had to be diverted. Initially, the fast trains were diverted from Byculla station onto the slow line, but gradually the CR authorities decided to divert it via the loop line before Matunga. This line is used to part trains.
Due to this the platforms and trains were crowded as trains on the slow line were made to wait as trains on fast line were getting diverted on their track. Passengers were complaining that the trains ran late by 20-40 minutes, especially on the fast line.
The Central Railway sad that the work was completed by 7.54 pm.
Repair work completed and trains are on proper route (Dn fast line) from 1954 hrs
