CM pays homage to martyrs of naxalite firing

Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan yesterday paid homage to the 15 policemen killed in Naxalite firing in Markegaon forests. Home Minister Jayant Patil accompanied Chavan to Gadchiroli district headquarters.

They paid their respects at the Police parade ground where the bodies were kept.

Three bodies including that of PSI Upendra Gudatkar are being sent to Amravati, while one each to Hingoli and Nanded respectively. The remaining 10 bodies were handed over to the relatives of the deceased.

District Guardian Minister and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ramesh Bang, Minister of state for Home, Nitin Raut, Minister of state for forests Vijay Wadattiwar, former minister Dharamrao Baba Atram, and former MP Naresh Pugalia also paid homage to the martyrs.

Maharashtra Director General of Police A N Roy and State Home Secretary Chitkala Zutshi were present on the occasion. After paying homage, Chavan met the members of bereaved families.
