The last person to see Chirag Patel (11) alive on Tuesday is his relative, Prakash Patel, a Std VII student of Koparkhairne's Jijamata Convent School. Prakash who also went to the school picnic to Sentosa Resort and Water Park near Pune with Chirag was the first person to inform his family that Chirag had gone missing.
"Prakash and I were playing in the swimming pool around 3.30 pm on Tuesday. He was shivering, as he was wet. I told him to change his clothes. He left to go to the changing room and never came back," Prakash told MiD DAY. The teachers realised Chirag was missing when they did a headcount before leaving for Mumbai around 4 pm.

Lalji Patel, Prakash's father, said, "After the headcount, my son called and told me Chirag had gone missing. I immediately informed Chirag's father Narayan. A male teacher scolded Prakash after he called me. He was also asked why he didn't look after Chirag."
Narayan Patel, Chirag's father, added, "How could they come back without my son?" Narayan and his family went to the water park and searched for Chirag till 3 am on Wednesday. They came back to Mumbai at 6 am and went back a few hours later. "We came to know about his death through news channels who flashed that Chirag's body was found in the filtration tank."
