Each of the 227 civic body corporators from political parties, including Shiv Sena, BJP, Congress and NCP, across the city were sent at least 1,000 of these pamphlets to distribute in their respective wards.
The event, which starts today, will go on till January 21 at the MMRDA grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex.
While some corporators willingly took on the request, many refused to comply.

Gyanmurti Sharma, a BJP corporator from Malad, said “This is above party lines, when we were approached with this proposal we all agreed. Every corporator has been given 1,000 pamphlets,” said Sharma.
On the other hand, when this reporter called Rais Shaikh of the Samajwadi Party, he sounded miffed. “I have asked my party people to return the pamphlets. If they don’t take it back we will
throw them.”
When asked how corporators were being used for a private organisation campaign, MLA Ravi Rana, who is also one of the organisers of the workshop, said, “We had asked leaders before sending the pamphlets. If corporators recommend the shibir, which the chief minister will inaugurate, it will help. We have distributed five lakh pamphlets, and are expecting a turnout of 50,000 people,” said Rana.
