After failing to respond to several summons by the Bombay High Court in the Bal Thackeray will issue, Shiv Sena mouthpiece editor and member of Parliament, Sanjay Raut, appeared before the court on Monday and recorded his statement.

Raut had been called as a witness by Jaidev Thackeray, elder brother of Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray. The brothers are currently locked in a court battle over their father's will.
Jaidev's counsel, Seema Sarnaik, examined Raut before justice Gautam Patel. The line of questioning attempted to establish Raut's role in Saamana along with determining how often Jaidev wrote for the paper and details about a family picture published in the paper.

After being questioned for 10 minutes, he was permitted to leave. Now, the court has summoned three reporters working with a leading daily for further questioning on January 16.
