BMC installs CCTVs inside Kurla subway to nab citizens who deface walls

Barely days after mid-day reported about the filth covering Kurla subway, BMC workers swung into action and were seen clearing garbage inside the newly-constructed subway and painting over gutkha stains. Now, the civic authorities have also started installing CCTVs inside the underpass to make it more secure for citizens, as well as to keep an eye on offenders on who deface the public property.

On November 14, mid-day reported how citizens have defaced the Kurla subway by littering and spitting on the walls and ceilings.

After RTI activist Anil Galgali sent a complaint to BMC chief Ajoy Mehta last week about the deplorable condition of the subway, local L-ward (Kurla) assistant municipal commissioner Ajitkumar Ambi assured Galgali that CCTVs would be installed in the subway soon. Speaking to mid-day, Ambi said, “We have started the process of installing CCTVs. In the meantime, nuisance detectors will make frequent visits to the subway to nab offenders.”
