Days after the Dahisar police arrested two Romanians for skimming ATM cards, another case has come to the fore, in which the duo stole Rs 9.11 lakh from the salary accounts of 41 Government Printing Press officials, using the same modus operandi. The MRA Marg police have arrested the accused, who had come to India on tourist visas.

Multiple cases
The accused have been identified as Valentine Ionut Nedelcu, 34, and Bolovan Ion Darias, 32. After 53-year-old Narendra Brid, who works as an operator at the government office in Charni Road, filed a complaint with the MRA Marg police station, the cops started investigating the case and in the process came to know that the accused was already in the custody of Dahisar police for their involvement in a similar case that took place around the same time.

In his complaint to the police, Brid mentioned that all the employees of the Government Printing Press office have their salary accounts at the Fort branch of Axis Bank. Most of the times they use the ATMs close to the Charni Road railway station to withdraw money. He further said around 11 pm on February 6 he received a message on his phone informing him about a withdrawal of Rs 14,500 from his salary account. He visited the bank and got his card blocked.

The next day when he discussed the matter with the other employees, he got to know that money was fraudulently withdrawn from the accounts of 41 of them and most of the transactions happened at Delhi and Faridabad based ATMs. Speaking to mid-day, Manoj Kumar Sharma, DCP, zone-1, said, "We have arrested two persons in the case. They were already in the custody of Dahisar police for a similar case. We are investigating the case."
