A 65-year-old man and his 20-year-old manservant were on Monday arrested by the police in Kalyan for repeatedly raping his 13-year-old maidservant
The Mahatma Phule police also booked two women in the accused’s family for allegedly threatening the victim with dire consequences if she told anybody about the incident. On Sunday, police registered an offence against Jaswant Karia, his servant Nilesh Muley, Rupa Karia and Priti Shah under sections 376 (2)(G), 506 and 34 of the IPC, sections 4 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and section 23 and 26 of the Juvenile Justice Act.

According to the first information report, in December a Vile Parle-based Ayurvedic doctor had arranged for the 13-year-old to work for the Karias in Kalyan following their request for a maid. But the teenager was subject to constant molestation. She revealed to the cops that Karia would molest her every chance he got. He even raped her twice, on Dec 1 and Dec 28. His servant Muley also joined in the crime.
When the girl complained to the women in the Karia family, Rupa and Priti, they threatened her into keeping mum. Later, the victim told her uncle in Nasik of the crimes she had suffered and quit the job. But soon after, she started receiving threat calls, with the person on the other end of the line claiming to be a cop and asking her to keep shut or face brutal action. The Karia family also registered a non-cognisable complaint against the girl to pre-empt any police action.
Finally, the girl’s family in Madhya Pradesh contacted the Hindu Rashtra Sena here seeking help. “We contacted the Mahatma Phule police and registered an offence against the accused, following which they were arrested,” said Advocate Naveen Chomal, attached with the Hindu Rashtra Sena. u00a0
