Ramina, who was arrested on Monday night from Pune, was brought to Mumbai on Tuesday and was produced in the court yesterday. Ramina secured bail on medical grounds after informing the suffered from heart ailment.
Speaking to mid-day, the 41-year-old complainant said, “In July, I was added to a WhatsApp group called ‘Aamna Saamna 2’. The day I was added, three people —Rahul, Ramina and Surya Sagar — started circulating lewd messages in the group using my name. They remained unfazed despite being threatened with police action. There were 50 members in that group, and I was the only woman. The messages were humiliating and embarrassing.”

The woman claimed that despite exiting the group on numerous occasions they kept adding her back. “Every time I exited the group, they would add me again. This incident was taking a toll on my life. A few days after, I was deleted from the group. However, I decided to teach them a lesson and filed a complaint.”
Though a complaint was filed on July 20, what followed was the apathetic attitude of cops in investigating case, according to the complainant. She said, “Despite following up on a daily basis, action initiated by the cops was shoddy. Despite providing them with their cell phone numbers, cops were unable to trace the trio’s location.”
She added, “Later, with the help of my friend, I managed to trace Rahul’s location in Madhya Pradeh’s Sagar district in November 2015. I immediately informed the local police, following which he was detained within two hours. However, the VP Road cops failed to provide the FIR copy following which he was released. Now the cops are unable to locate him.”
She said that it wasn’t until she met a high-ranking official last week, that the cops traced Ramani’s location to Pune and arrested him. “He told the cops that I was like his sister and sought forgiveness for his actions. The cops have now despatched two teams to MP and Gujarat to trace Rahul and Surya,” she added.
