Raksha Bandhan ended tragically for Rajnikaant Dayalal Rawal, 53. The Bharuch resident, who was visiting his elder sister Bharti in Mumbai for the festival, died on Sunday at Borivli station while trying to board a moving express train.
Saturday with sister
Rawal came to Mumbai on the evening of August 5 to visit his elder sister Bharti and her husband, who is ill. They reside in Pushpa Park in Malad East.

He wanted to return home early on account of the lunar eclipse, so he spent Saturday night at Bharti's house and left on Sunday morning. Raval went to Borivli station to board the Suryanagari Express from platform number 4.

When Rawal reached the platform, the train started moving. He tried to chase it and catch hold of the handle of a coach's door. But, he suddenly lost balance and fell below the moving train. Rawal was rushed to the Shatabdi Hospital by GRP officials and declared dead by a doctor, said a police officer from the Borivli GRP.
Body was taken to village
GRP informed Rawal's nephew Bhavesh, who later took custody of the body. "We have registered an Accidental Death Report and the body was handed over to the family after the autopsy," said Shailendra Dhivar, sr inspector, Borivli GRP.
The body was taken to Rawal's village of Ajol in Gujarat for the last rites. Rawal was the youngest among six siblings.
