A 28-year-old real estate professional allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his mother’s residence in Bandra (West) on Friday morning. Before the incident, the deceased, Ali Abbas Barodawala, had sent an SMS to his wife saying he was alone at his mother’s house and was going to do something to himself.

According to Bandra police, Ali Abbas, who stays in Bandra (East) with his wife, had left the house saying he was going to the market. After some time, his wife received a message from him saying he was at his mother’s house, alone, and was going to do something to himself.
Panicked, his wife reached her mother-in-law’s house which was locked from inside. Using a duplicate key, she opened the main door and, with the help of locals, managed to force open the door of a locked room, where she found her husband hanging from the ceiling fan using a nylon rope.
Senior Police Inspector Ramchandra Dawle from Bandra police station, said, “We did not recover any suicide note from the spot, just the message he had sent to his wife before hanging himself.” Sources from the police station said they suspect that Abbas was facing financial losses in his business, which led him to commit suicide.
The statements of Abbas’ family members will be recorded after his last rites are performed. The police have registered an accidental death report and are investigating the case.
