Thane: As many as 227 children were reunited with their parents in the last six months under a family restoration programme 'Muskan' of the Thane Police in Thane.

Under the programme, the parents and family members of children who were found loitering, begging or doing errand jobs, engaged in child labour or lodged at remand homes were traced, a release said.
The Child Protection Unit of Thane Police Commissionerate ran the programme which ended in December 2015.
In this social initiative, 8 missing children and 35 kidnapped children were traced and reunited with their family.
A team of officials located the parents of 58 children lodged in remand homes and about 41 children who were found at public places like railway stations and bus stands.
As many as 35 child labourers and 44 children who were found begging were counselled before restoring them to their families.
Four children have been lodged at a remand home here as the team failed to locate their parents, the release said.
The police efforts also brought two special children to their parents, it said.
