A spokesperson from the group said, “Our team reached Dahisar from Kandivli (East) on bikes. But Paradkar, Jagtap and Shekhar were missing since 11 am. A motorist, who was passing by, told us that some boys had met with an accident on the Dahisar bridge, and that they were wearing our pathak’s t-shirt. We rushed to the spot and took them to Shatabdi Hospital.”

Norms flouted
Officials from the police commissionerate said orders were issued on the occasion of Dahi Handi that govindas were to ride wearing helmets, not travel triple-seat and follow traffic norms. But, only a handful of govindas followed these rules.

Joint Police Commissioner B K Upadhyay said, “We had arranged for nakabandi at 50 locations, and booked many govindas for breaking traffic rules. The most common offences included bikers riding triple seat, riding without helmets, driving in the wrong lanes and breaking signals.”
