There were 139 more cases reported from the Cordelia Cruise ship on Wednesday, with 60 Covid-19 cases already found among those who returned to Mumbai on Tuesday evening. The BMC health team tested 1,827 people and the reports of 995 passengers were received by Wednesday afternoon. Of these 995, 139 were found positive and all have been moved to either a jumbo Covid centre or to hotels, said a civic official. Those with negative reports have to remain in home quarantine for seven days.

As per the information from the BMC, a total of 1,827 passengers on the Cordelia cruise were tested by two medical laboratories. The process of testing the passengers went on till 5 am on Wednesday. Of these, the reports from one laboratory that tested  995 passengers showed that 139 people had tested positive for Covid.  The remaining 832 people have been tested by another medical laboratory and their reports are expected to be received in due course, said an official from the BMC.

The Cordelia Cruise ship arrived at Green Gate on Tuesday evening and  60 infected patients were admitted to the Richardson and Cruddas Jumbo Covid Centre in Byculla and various other paid hotels.  The ship had sailed to Goa with over 1,827 people onboard, but no one was allowed to disembark there after a crew member tested positive for Covid. A medical team in Goa went aboard the ship, which was anchored near the Mormugao Port cruise terminal in Vasco, and conducted RT-PCR tests of everyone.  The ship was told to turn around after 66 people tested positive.  Six people disembarked in Goa itself.
