Khetwadi residents are confident Ashok Chavan will reply to their e-mail and help put a stay on the construction of a building on a reserved plot

After CM Ashok Chavan recently came to the rescue of Juhu citizens and helped them put a stay on the construction of a multiplex on a plot reserved for education purpose, the residents of 12th Khetwadi Lane, Grant Road, are hopeful he will help them too.

"The work started two months ago and we filed an RTI, as officers refused to give us details. According to the law, the BMC should have taken our suggestions into consideration before de-reserving the plot. But, there was no official correspondence from their side," said Satish Bokadia, a resident of Mansukh Nivas, a building opposite the plot.u00a0u00a0

"We have e-mailed the CM and are awaiting his response Also, recently when Juhu residents approached him with a similar problem, he helped them out," said Rajesh Vaghani, secretary of Mansukh Nivas.u00a0

Buildings in the area are facing problems due to the ongoing piling work on the plot. "Our buildings are old and tremble like there isu00a0 an earthquake due to the construction activity. We have often rushed out of our houses, fearing the building would collapse. We have registered a complaint with the D-ward BMC," said Vaghani.

"If the building comes up, our homes will not get air and light. According to the plan, the parking area comes up to the fourth floor, which means we will be subjected to pollution. We want CM to solve our problem soon," added Bokadia. Chandrashekhar Chore, the assistant commissioner of D-ward, said that he would look into the matter.
