Shital Pansare from Panvel connived with a PSI to eliminate her ex-lover in a seemingly hit-and-run; her arrest nixed their plot to target a senior in similar way

A female constable from Panvel who is in jail for allegedly plotting the murder of a male colleague has shocked the seasoned investigators in the case with another revelation: she was also planning to eliminate a senior police inspector. The policewoman had teamed up with a sub-inspector to execute her plans. The PSI is currently on the run, said sources in the police department.

Sources said Shital Pansare, 29, from Nehru Nagar police station emerged as a suspect after a constable named Shivaji Sanap from the same police station died in what seemed like a hit-and-run in August. Sanap was hit by a Nano car on his way home.
As the cops tried to track down the driver behind the constable’s death, they found that it was a hit job designed by Pansare, who apparently was in a relationship with Sanap in the past. They arrested her in September.
During the course of their investigation, the Panvel city police arrested two more persons for helping Pansare. They also found that a PSI from the same police station was involved in the plot. By that time, the PSI had gone into hiding.
In custody, Pansare spilled beans on her other plan that left the probe officers in disbelief.
“During interrogation of the accused [Pansare], we came across another shocking conspiracy hatched by them. They had planned to eliminate a senior inspector. We talked with the accused at length and understood the reasons for the planning,” said a senior officer from Navi Mumbai, refusing to name the senior PI citing his safety.
Sources said that Pansare and the absconding PSI had run-ins with the senior PI over discipline and administrative matters. This had prompted the senior to file a report against his juniors. “The accused wanted to get the senior inspector killed in a road accident, just like Sanap,” said a source.
The Panvel City cops have now called the senior PI to record his statement following which they will likely register an FIR against Pansare and the PSI.
Ajay Kumar Landge, senior inspector of the police station, said, “Few things have come up during the investigation. One more accused related to the offence is still absconding.
He was instrumental in Sanap’s murder and had planned to execute the senior officer as well.”
