The Borivli Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested two men and detained two minors for allegedly assaulting a home guard after he told one of the accused to alight from the women's compartment. The incident took place at 11.30 pm on Sunday when home guard Kalpesh Kadam, 25, was on duty in the women's compartment of the train travelling from Virar to Churchgate.

According to police officers, as the train was leaving Dahisar station, four men were seen running towards the train to board it. While three men including two minors boarded the general compartment, one of the accused boarded the women's compartment, as the train had picked up speed. The officers said that the men were on their way to Borivli station to take a train to Surat.

When Kadam saw the man Nilesh Sakat, 20, he asked him to get out of the women's compartment. Sakat then got into an argument with Kadam and started assaulting him. At Borivli station, Sakat called to his accomplices, who beat up Kadam further and fled. “One of the commuters, who witnessed this, called up the police. We then rushed to the spot and looked out for the four accused,” said Anil Kadam, senior police inspector of Borivli GRP.

The police then scanned the real-time CCTV footage and caught the four men. “While two minors have been sent to the juvenile home, Sakat and his accomplice have been arrested for assaulting under section 323 of the Indian Penal Code,” added the officer.
