The Malwani police arrested three citizens of Nepal, who have been involved in theft cases across the city. This gang was working as watchmen in several building societies. They would rob the residents and flee with gold jewellery, cash and valuables. Interestingly, the gang only used Facebook messenger to talk with each other about their plans.

The accused have been identified as Pravin Shahi, 33, a resident of Bangalore, Bharat Ranbahadur Sahi, 22, a resident of Rajkot and Suman Shahi 36, a resident of Mumbai. As watchmen, they would conduct recces for a few months, and then plan the thefts. They never used mobile phones, and once the robbery was successful, they would divide the loot.

According to the police officials, on December 30, Suman Shahi, who was working at a petrol pump near Madh Beach, informed the others and robbed the pump of Rs 91,000. However, Malwani police checked CCTV cameras of the area and a local identified Shahi.
