Police in Maharashtra's Thane district have registered a case against two men for betting during a T20 match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

Acting on a tip-off, police raided a residential building in the Bhiwandi area during a match between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Wednesday. During the raid, they seized digital accessories, including mobile phones, worth about Rs 30,000, reported PTI.
Per the PTI report, the two men involved in the betting have been identified as Shafi Salim Shaikh and Sahabuddin Jainuddin Ansari. According to officials, they were using an app to take bets from people.
Earlier this month, Delhi Police arrested three persons for betting on the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. "The Special Task Force, a team of Delhi Police, apprehended three persons, namely Pradeep Sharma alias Boby (33), Mohit Arora (35) and Mukesh Sharma (44)," the Police stated in an official statement.
The police recovered one laptop, six mobile phones, one LED TV, one router, and Rs 20500 from the accused's possession. According to the police, a case has been filed under the Gambling Act at Krishna Nagar Police Station.IPL betting is forbidden under the Prevention of Gambling Act and the Telegraph Act.
