Navi Mumbai teen has accused her stepfather of allegedly raping her over a period of two years. The Police have registered a case against the 35-year-old accused from Vashi, an official said on Thursday.

According to a report in PTI, the minor, aged 15 years, approached the police and lodged a complaint against her stepfather at the APMC Police Station in Vashi on Wednesday. The complainant alleged that she was raped by her stepfather repeatedly from October 2021 till October 2023.

The police official was quoted in the report as saying, "In her complaint, she said that between October 2021 and October 2023, her stepfather repeatedly raped her, forcing her to engage in unnatural sex. She alleged that he used to beat and kick her and also give her death threats," the police official said.

Reportedly, the girl grew tired of the constant harassment and decided to take a stand. Having mustered her courage, she approached the police, the official added.

Based on her complaint, the police have booked the accused under Sections 376 (2) (N) (repeatedly raping same woman), 377 (Unnatural offences), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police said that they had also booked him under the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

In another incident from Thane city, a case has been registered against a man for allegedly harassing and stalking a 13-year-old girl.

The girl, residing in the Wagle Estate area, had opened an account on an instant messaging app a few months ago, using her mother's mobile phone. She accepted a friend request from the accused, according to the FIR provided by an official from the Srinagar police station.

The two engaged in messaging and chat conversations. Allegedly, the accused began stalking the girl and claimed that he would marry her once she reached the age of 18. He is also accused of inappropriate physical contact, the official mentioned.

It was reported that when the girl did not respond to his advances, the accused resorted to self-harm by slitting his wrist with a blade. "Subsequently, the accused also sent explicit images of himself to the girl," added the official.

Constant harassment led to the girl falling ill on several occasions, prompting her to approach the police with a complaint. Based on her complaint, the police registered an FIR against the accused under Indian Penal Code sections 354D (stalking) and 366A (procuration of a minor girl), along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Information Technology Act.
