A Mumbai based woman was allegedly duped of Rs.75,020 while booking a hotel for a function. The victim was cheated while she was booking a hotel at Marve road in Malwani and did an online transaction, the police said.

After receiving a complaint, a case has been registered against unknown accused in Malwani police station, the police said.
According to the police sources, the victim had booked a hotel, 'Green Village at Marve road near the Malwani Church area online for an upcoming family function. She had transferred Rs 75,020 online on the number that was allegedly mentioned on a website.
Sources added, she was sure of the booking and went for a check on Thursday, a day before the function was to be held. on reaching the hotel, she came to know from the management of the hotel that there was no such booking done by her.
Later, she provided the details of the online transactions and the number on which she had contacted the hotel. She even presented the details of the amount paid, when the officials of the hotel checked the number she provided, it turned out be a fake contact number, an official said.

Recently, several people were reportedly duped by the fraudster in the name of hotel bookings for parties and functions.
The matter comes days after, another woman was duped the tune of Rs 500 in the name of an advance booking. Speaking with mid-day her father, Jamal Shaikh said, “various sports activities and arrangements were made in a hotel, for which an entry ticket of Rs 200 had been kept. My daughter and wife had checked the website then there was a discount of Rs.100 too, they made the booking and transferred the amount online. Rs. 500 for three people was transferred, but when they reached there they learnt that they had been duped. Last week we went to the police station to register a complaint but the police did not even register an FIR."
