The Antop Hill Police in Mumbai has booked an unknown person for allegedly killing a woman whose body was found near GTB railway station, the police said on Wednesday.


The matter came to light on January 24 when an unidentified body was recovered from an abandoned area near GTB railway station.


"A woman's unidentified body, suspected to be in her 30s, had been recovered from an abandoned spot near GTB railway station. We suspect the body to be 5-6 days old, and it's completely decomposed.


The body has been sent to Sion Hospital for postmortem analysis. Her throat has been slit, and she has injuries on her stomach as well; we await post-mortem reports to arrive," said a police officer.

According to the police, they have identified the body.

"We have identified the body to be of one Alimuinsa; further investigation is ongoing. Full efforts have been made to investigate the case and find the accused," said an officer.
