Mumbai Police busts fake international job racket, five held from different cities of the country

Mumbai Police on Thursday said that it arrested five people and solved a case of cheating where several job seekers were lured with offers to work internationally and allegedly duped of their savings

The Mumbai Police on Thursday said that its crime branch was successful in solving a case where several job seekers were lured with offers to work internationally and allegedly duped of their savings by handing them over fake offer letters.


The police have also recovered as many as 63 passports from the suspects allegedly involved in the racket, an official said.


The police said, several job seekers had complained to the police that they had been allegedly cheated after giving them fake job offer letters of companies in different countries after they had paid the demanded amount by suspects. On the complaint, the police had recently filed an FIR under various sections of the IPC and began investigations into the matter.


"Five special teams of police officials were formed to investigate the matter," an official said.

The police said, the complainants alleged that they were charged between Rs 40,000 to 60,000 for getting them jobs in countries including Azerbaijan, Omna, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, etc. The complainants had told the police that they had received fake job offer letters via WhatsApp from the suspects and when they decided to confront the suspects, they went untraceable. 

"The police launched its investigations and used technical clues to trace the suspects in different parts of the country," the official said.

The police said, it was found that the suspects were allegedly a part of a well coordinated gang that had been operating from different states of the country. The police officials traced the culprits in Bihar, Lucknow, Delhi and Bhiwandi in Maharashtra. The investigators  zeroed in on five suspects and traced their locations following which they were nabbed from various parts of India. 

Following their arrests, the officials also seized as many as 63 passports, landline phones, mobile phones, fake visas, rubber stamps, printers, etc., the police said.

The suspects were identified as Ramkrupal Kushwaha, 45 (nabbed from Bhiwandi), Rohit Sinha, 33 (from Mumbai), Ashishkumar Mahto, 30 (from Delhi), Amitosh Gupta (Lucknow), 40, Rahul Chowdhary, 22 (from Bihar).

Some of the suspects also have previous similar cases registered against them, the police said.

Further investigations in the case is going on, an official said.
