The Amboli police on Wednesday arrested a 34-year-old man with an Audi car that was stolen from Banjara Hills in Telangana in 2020. The arrested accused Sahil Jaffar, is a resident of Jogeshwari and owns a travel business. In a statement to police, Jaffar claimed that he had bought the car in 2021 from two men for Rs 15 lakh.


Shivaji Shinde, a sub-inspector of Santacruz police station, received a tip-off about a businessman from Jogeshwari using a stolen vehicle. Shinde's team, headed by senior police inspector Dnyaneshwar Ganore, arrested the businessman from Jogeshwari. After a thorough investigation, Ganore was handed over to the Amboli police.



Around 80 hi-end cars were stolen from Hyderabad in 2020, of which, the Telangana state police recovered 72. The Audi car recovered was among those stolen vehicles and a case regarding the same was registered at Banjara Hill Police Station, said an officer.


An agent who bought the car had modified the number plate and RC book. Ganore was produced before the court and Banjara Hill police have been informed, said sub-inspector Vishal Doundkar from Amboli police station.
