The Kurar Police in Mumbai arrested a man suspected of allegedly defrauding an elderly woman on pretext of helping in securing a job at Film City, an official said.

According to the police, the suspect was identified as Vinodkumar Ramchandra Jaiswal, 29. He allegedly defrauded an elderly woman by making false promise. Jaiswal was arrested and later produced before a court.
The police said that the complainant, a senior citizen woman, residing in the Malad area of the city, was approached by Jaiswal around four days ago while she was busy doing household work. He asked her if anyone in her house needed a job after claiming that he could get a job for the one in need from her family in Film City.
"He mentioned that money would be required for securing the job and invited her to his 'office'. During this interaction, Jaiswal managed to deceive the woman and later absconded with her jewellery and a mobile phone worth around Rs 35 thousand," an official said.
The police said that upon realising that she had been duped, the woman reported the incident to the Kurar Police Station on Sunday. Based on her complaint, police registered a case and commenced an investigation under the guidance of Police Inspector Amar Jagdale. The team included Assistant Inspectors Pankaj Wankhede, More, Bhogle, Tijare, Barait, Tamboli, Phadtare, and others.
"During the investigation, the police reviewed a total of 60 CCTV footage. Using this footage, they successfully laid a trap and detained Jaiswal in Jogeshwari area. After a thorough interrogation, Jaiswal confessed to the crime. He is a laborer and resides in Jogeshwari area," the official added.
