The Bangur Nagar police have successfully apprehended the house servant who allegedly escaped after stealing a diamond ring and cash from actress Yamini Rawal's residence last week. The accused, identified as Pramod Jagannath Gupta, had been working as a house servant at the actress's home for several months.
The stolen items included the actress's platinum diamond ring, a gold chain, and approximately Rs 20,000 in cash, about Rs 4.5 lakh total. Upon discovering the missing items, she thoroughly searched her home. When she couldn't locate them, her suspicions fell on Gupta. He left the house one day and did not return, prompting Rawal to approach the police station on October 10 to register a complaint against Gupta.
API Yogesh Ramekar and his detection team initiated an investigation, successfully tracking down the accused and apprehending him in the Grant Road area on Saturday. During the interrogation, Gupta confessed to the crime. Although they were able to recover the stolen diamond ring, but was in a melted condition, as reported by an officer.
Gupta had attempted to sell the ring to jewellers, but no one was willing to purchase it. As a last resort, he melted the ring and attempted to sell it to another jeweller. The gold chain was later discovered within the actress's residence, as mentioned by the officer.

Gupta was subsequently arrested and presented before the court, where he was remanded to police custody, according to another officer.
