The police said the accused would enter the societies at night and after stealing the wires, sell them for Rs 200-Rs 300. They said he would then purchase drugs. He told us that his AC unit’s copper wire, which is quite costly, was stolen. We checked CCTV footage of the building and found that the accused had stolen the AC wires of six flats. Four of these flats are unoccupied. We also found that the accused had done the same in more than 30 flats in the area.
