Two young men, arrested in a drug case, were granted bail by the Bandra magistrate court on Saturday. The men, identified as Faqrudin Sayyed Ali and Gopal Mooponr, will be spending one more night at a quarantine centre in Byculla, before they are released.

The incident occurred on November 26 at Matunga Labour camp at Matunga East.  According to the police, 485 gm of MD, and a gun and bullet, were placed inside Ali’s home by an accused Naeem Qureshi.

The duo was arrested following a police raid. Investigations revealed that Nicolas Pandian alias Nikki, who is still absconding, was responsible for planting the drugs.

The Sahu Nagar police submitted a detailed report of the case at the Bandra Magistrate Court on Friday. In the report, the police stated that Ali and Mooponr are innocent, and that they were framed.

Speaking with mid-day, Parmesh Maitri, a friend, said, “Our friends are innocent and we hope they will be released tomorrow.”
