A 27-year-old woman from Gujarat, who works for a tech company in Mumbai, was harassed online while she was searching for a flat in the city.

The woman who is currently working from home, was planning on returning to Mumbai soon. She opened a Facebook account just to look for a rental accommodation in the Malad-Goregaon belt.

When she shared her requirements on a Facebook real-estate group, a man named Akshay Singh responded to her query. Claiming to be an owner, he checked with her if she was still hunting for accommodation and sent her a video of an apartment, reported The Times of India.

The woman was asked if she needed the entire flat or wanted it on a sharing basis. He also asked workplace details and her phone number.

Ten minutes into the conversation, Singh told her she needn't pay any rent and that he will look after her expenses in return of sexual favours, the report added.

Singh told her that he would create a fake profile with her number in case she tried to blocked him. However, the woman stopped responding to him, but Singh continued to message her.

She later blocked him on Facebook and tweeted to Mumbai police with a screenshot of the conversation.

"Singh has since deleted and reactivated his profile a couple of times and changed his profile image," the woman was quoted saying according to the report.

The Mumbai police has now advised her to file a complaint with the cyber police in Gujarat.
