The Bhayandar police are looking for an unknown man, who met a real estate agent posing as a property buyer and allegedly made away with his gold ornaments, mobile phone and cash after drugging him.

The accused, still unidentified, met the 50-year-old agent at the latter’s office at Bhayandar West on July 28. He told the agent that he was interested in buying a piece of land near Uttan or the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway and had a budget of Rs 3.5 crore, police said.

The agent suggested a few options and the accused expressed his desire to see some land located on the highway. They met again at 8.30 pm and drove to the location in the agent’s car. On the way, the accused bought liquor and on reaching Vasai, he told the agent to stop at a dhaba as he was hungry.

When they stopped, the accused went to order food while the agent went to the toilet. Meanwhile, the accused had poured the liquor in two glasses and when the agent returned he offered him one.

Soon after, the agent fainted and found himself in a hospital after regaining consciousness. He had Rs 26,000 cash on him, which was gone along with his gold chain, finger ring and his mobile phone, said a police officer.

The agent filed a complaint and his statement was recorded on July 31. Police registered a case under Sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc.) and 379 (punishment for theft) of the IPC against an unknown person, said another officer from Bhayandar police station.
