A 50-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment by Dindoshi sessions court for raping a 37-year-old mentally challenged woman in his neighbourhood.

According to a report in Times of India, special public prosecutor Geeta Malankar cited the victim's testimony to seek conviction of the accused as the DNA evidence was inconclusive.

The incident came to light on July 17, 2015, when the woman's brother came home and saw his sister weeping. When asked, the woman told him that she went to see a doctor for stomach pain and found out that she is two months pregnant.

Upon further questioning, the woman revealed the name of the accused. Later, the accused admitted that he had been involved with the woman for over four months.
