A 24-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for drunk and negligent driving after his friend, riding pillion, fell off the bike and died at the MTNL flyover.

The accused was identified as Ankur Ojha and his friend as Yash Vania, both residents of suburbs, stated a report in The Times of India.

On Tuesday night, both went out and got drunk, police said. Around 12.15 am, they took the MTNL flyover to go from Dindoshi in Malad East to Malad West. “Ojha was riding rashly which led to Vania lose his balance and fall. He hit his head and started bleeding,” the officer said.

Vania succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. A police constable pressed charges against Ojha under relevant sections of IPC and Motor Vehicles Act and he was arrested.
