A 17-year-old boy was killed allegedly by four guards after they suspected him of stealing raw material kept for Metro rails.

The incident took place in Powai when the minor, Aniket Bansode, was attacked for allegedly stealing a pipe from a Metro work area.

The Powai police have arrested Umesh Parab, 38, Sujat Ali Naushad Ali, 26, Sachin Mandavkar, 38, and Sandeep Jadhav,30, on the charge of murder.

The police said the minor lived in Milind Nagar in Powai. On Tuesday night, a security guard saw him allegedly stealing pipes from a Metro site. The guard and three of his colleagues beat him up with a bamboo stick and iron rod.

After the beating, they dumped him on a road at Milindnagar. On spotting the unconscious teen, a passerby alerted his relatives who took him to Rajawadi Hospital. But doctors declared him dead.

The Powai police registered a case and began a probe. Guided by Zone 10 Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Maheshwar Reddy, three squads detained the guards for questioning.

Senior Inspector of Powai police station Aburao Sonawane said, “We started our inquiry with these four security guards and they confessed to their crime.”
