The accused, identified as Diba Oliver, was arrested during a raid in Andheri’s Marol area and 20 Mephedrone Ecstasy tablets were seized from his possession.
Oliver, who was teaching at a college in Dubai, came to Mumbai for his treatment. However, he ran out of money and started looking for a job in Mumbai. He came in touch with a Nigerian citizen, who told him that he could easily earn money by selling drugs, after which Oliver started peddling drugs.
Oliver used to take orders over the phone and then ask the supplier for drugs. After receiving the drugs from the supplier, he would himself deliver it to the customer, an NCB official. Oliver used to deliver drugs in Andheri, Oshiwara, and Versova.
An NCB official told mid-day, “We are also looking for the supplier from whom Oliver used to take drugs. We are also investigating who the customers are and the amount of drugs they used to purchase from him.”
The zonal director of NCB (Mumbai) told mid-day, “Oliver came to India six months ago on a medical visa and later started selling drugs here. NCB arrested him and is investigating further.”
