The incident took place on February 10 when the two accused—Ayan Shaikh, 19, and Abdul Idrees Shaikh, 35—were scaling the wall of a Goregaon high-rise after breaking into a closed flat. Ayan lost grip, fell and injured his leg. The watchman rushed to spot after hearing the sound but could only nab Ayan while Abdul fled. The watchman then informed Goregaon police.
Cops recovered the stolen property, including cash and jewellery, from Ayan and arrested him for burglary. During interrogation, Ayan revealed Abdul’s name following which Malad police arrested him from Nalasopara the next day.
Sources said while Ayan did not have a past record, Abdul was a history-sheeter with dozens of cases filed in nearby police stations. Both the accused are residents of Nalasopara and have mastered climbing buildings.
The accused have confessed to carrying out three burglaries in Malad, Bangur Nagar and Goregaon. The accused were produced before the court and have been remanded in police custody.
