The Kurar police have booked a couple on Saturday, after actor Sahil Khan alleged that the woman, who is a Bangladeshi national, had submitted a fake election card and Indian passport, and obtained anticipatory bail in a defamation case registered against them by him in the year 2019 at the Goregaon police station.

According to the police, an FIR has been registered against Sonia Jabin Ahmed and Karan Rajkumar alias Karnakumar Dhir, for forgery and conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code.

The case was filed by Khan, stating that in 2019, he had met the couple in a gym at Oshiwara and they had told him that they were married. He said they also told him they bought protein supplements from his Biceps Supplement Store in Oshiwara.

Khan had approached the police in 2019 claiming Ahmed and Dhir had cheated him of R52,000 regarding more protein supplements and when he asked for his money, the couple had posted an obscene, abusive video against him on social media including Instagram.

Khan remembered

“The couple had then approached the Dindoshi sessions court and applied for anticipatory bail which they received,” said a police officer from Kurar police station. Khan had noted that Ahmed had told him that she was from Bangladesh, however, the election card that she had submitted in the sessions court as identity proof was Indian. On suspicion, the actor’s lawyer has told the court to verify the document.

“We have registered the case under sections 120(B), and Sections 193 (false evidence), 196 (using evidence known to be false), 197 (Whoever issues or signs any certificate required by law to be given or signed), 198 (using a true certificate known to be false), 446 (house breaking), 448 (house trespass), 471(fraudulently or dishonestly using as genuine any 1[document or electronic record], 191 (giving false evidence), 465 (forgery), and 34 (common intention) of IPC. We found that the duo is in Dubai and the Goregaon police have issued a lookout notice against them,” the officer added. Their anticipatory bail was rejected by the court as they did not follow its orders - appearances at the police station, etc. - in the past three years and it was found that they had fled to Dubai.

‘They harassed us’

“The duo had made lewd videos and messages about me and my family members. They also made my sister’s mobile phone number viral, and people started calling and abusing her, after which I complained to the Goregaon police,” said Khan. “Their names are different and the documents they submitted in court for the anticipatory bail had different names. Ahmed’s name was Jabin Nusrat. She was a Bangladeshi national who had a Bangladesh passport but the document she submitted was an Indian voter ID card. She also holds an Indian passport in the name Sonia Jabin. Karandhir alias Karandhirkd had a different name on his Aadhaar card and passport,” added Khan.

“We received a complaint from Khan. After instructions of senior officials, on Saturday we  registered the case,” said SI Satesh Gavde of Kurar police, which is in the jurisdiction of the court. The Anti-terrorism Cell of the police station is also investigating the case.
